Help JCA build a new walking track through Totara Park

This is a shout out for VOLUNTEERS to help build a new walking track through Totara Park this Saturday afternoon.

totara parkTotara Park is a 2.3 hectare park between the western end of Broderick Road and Mclintock St South.

JCA is building a new walking track to join Broderick Road to Mclintock St

JCA is building the track with support from Wellington City Council (thanks WCC!), and we are looking for volunteers to help build the track. Sessions will be 2-3 hours of camaraderie, making new friends, and achieving something great and on weekend days, and many hands make light work!

We need your help

If you have ever had a hankering to physically “do something” to help make Johnsonville a better place to live, you won’t find a better chance than to help build this 600m long biking and walking track through a stand of fast-regenerating native bush!

Not sure you can  help? No worries! All volunteers need a bit of training, and we have our first 2 hour track-building training session at Totara Park this Saturday, 9 December  at 2pm.

We’d especially like young people to join in, do some good, learn some new skills, and be part of the community!

How to get involved

If you or yours are keen to participate, phone or email organiser Graeme Sawyer and he’ll  will give you details of where to meet & what to bring:  027 444 1748 or email JCAinc2@gmail.com with your contact details.

We need tools too

We are also on the scrounge should you have some surplus equipment to help with the build: if you have any of the following to donate, that would be hugely apprecated — please give Graeme a call and we will collect!

  • Good quality garden hose
  • Mattock (heavy grubber)
  • Loppers
  • Spade
  • Picks
  • Rake
  • Picnic Table
